As of June 2007 Ghost River Rediscovery Society has expanded its horizons by welcoming a new program called the Aboriginal Seniors Gathering Place. It was originally designed to reduce the barriers that elderly residents encounter in accessing supportive services and as a program to improve the social climate, to ease isolation, to oversee on-site supportive service that will be available to Aboriginal residents in housing complexes and in their own homes, establish a health liaison worker program, health promotion, nutrition, vaccines and health nurse visits, to arrange involvement of extended families, to bridge the gap between Aboriginal seniors and non-Aboriginal agencies, and allowing Aboriginal seniors to improve their knowledge of health services available to them. With this new venture, Ghost River Rediscovery has a complete circle of services available to the Calgary community. It also enhances the organization with new resources of knowledge, culture, skills and wisdom. The Seniors Program completes a strong circle of wealth from the very young to the very old for Ghost River Rediscovery.
